Scene Change Sydney took delivery of 4 ERECA Stage Racer 2 24 SDI units, further strengthening the company’s capability to support major live broadcast, entertainment and corporate productions. The investment provides Scene Change Sydney with one of the industry’s most flexible fibre transport platforms, enabling the transmission of high-bandwidth video, audio, intercom, data and control signals over a single fibre infrastructure while simplifying deployment for complex live productions.
The Stage Racer 2’s integrated processing and direction-configurable architecture reduces the need for additional infrastructure, making it well suited for outside broadcasts, live events and remote productions.
“Our clients expect systems that are reliable, flexible and quick to deploy, regardless of the production environment,” said John Dinh, Scene Change Sydney’s Director. “The ERECA Stage Racer 2 gives us exceptional versatility by allowing video, audio and control signals to travel over a unified fibre platform while providing the routing and processing capabilities needed for today’s increasingly complex productions. We’re stoked to partner with Professional Audio & Television to bring this technology into our fleet.”
Scene Change’s Technical Director – Joel Gibson and Project Manager – Anthony Pellizzari underwent a thorough comparison amongst similar solutions in the market before deciding on ERECA’s Stage Racer 2. “Once we had researched all available options, the Stage Race 2 not only provided us with the best bang for buck when it came to technical features but also flexibility and control,” Gibson outlined. Pellizzari added, “Not to mention the local technical support from PAT during the assessment phase. We were able to assess PAT’s demo Stage Racers on a production prior to making the final call.”
Each Stage Racer 2 provides 24 direction-configurable SDI channels, including 16 SD/HD/3G-SDI and eight 12G-SDI interfaces for Ultra HD workflows, alongside four high-capacity optical fibre trunks delivering up to 160Gbps of aggregate bandwidth. This architecture enables the simultaneous transport of uncompressed video, audio, intercom, data and control signals over a single fibre infrastructure while supporting flexible point-to-point, star, ring and linear network topologies for productions of any scale.
Beyond signal transport, the Stage Racer 2 incorporates extensive onboard processing to reduce system complexity and minimise the need for external hardware. Integrated frame synchronisers, frame buffers and programmable video delays are complemented by comprehensive audio processing, including embedding, de-embedding, channel shuffling and sample-rate conversion. The platform also supports analogue audio, optional 64-channel Dante/AES67 networking, AES3, MADI, Ethernet, serial data, GPIO and Genlock, with browser-based configuration, remote monitoring and dual redundant power supplies providing the reliability and operational flexibility required for mission-critical broadcast and live event productions.
Patrick Salloch, Professional Audio & Television, said the deployment demonstrates the growing demand for intelligent fibre transport solutions in the Australian market. “Scene Change Sydney has built an outstanding reputation for delivering technically demanding productions, and the Stage Racer 2 is an ideal fit for that environment. Its combination of high-density 12G-SDI transport, integrated signal processing, audio-over-IP options and flexible network topology enables production teams to deploy faster while reducing system complexity. We’re delighted to support Scene Change with this significant investment in ERECA technology and are happy to refer any touring artists or production company to Scene Change to hire these Stage Racers for their next event.”
